European DX-Contest CW 2000
Contest Echo
4X/OL7D: A pleasure to work so many excellent CW
oprs.
CX9AU: This was my first WAE-CW and was very interesting
contest. Use much off time... had 39° fever and wkd 3 hours the
first night...
DJ7MG: This WAE was the contest of the low sounds.
Ionosphere was more a swab than a mirror...
DJ9MH: Summer murphy party...
DK5OS: Better condx resulted in a higher score than ever
expected with my wire antennas...
DK7FP: QTC traffic makes this contest exciting...
DL1BUG: Tnx excellent QTC traffic...
DL2DRZ: Cuagn next year...
DL2ZAV: Running barefoot means no additional heat on a hot
WAE weekend...
DL7YS: Aurora on 2 and 6m seemed to be better than
WAE...
DL8WX: Phantastic demonstration of the sun's activity on
Saturday!
EA2CR: Happy to take part in the WAEDC. Licensed 7 Jul
1950!
EA4FL: Very bad conditions in all directions during August
12...
G0MTN: Extremely bad conditions on Saturday. Could hear
almost no-one!
G3RSD: At one time I thought that there would be no contact
with USA...
G3TXF: The QTCs make the WAE an especially fun contest. The
use of computer generated CW has improved beyond recognition the
tidiness and accuracy with QTCs are sent...
G3VQO: Only a few contacts - conditions were poor on
Saturday...
G5G: Very poor condx on Saturday due to solar flares, so not
a very good score this year...
G6QQ: Found condx poor at all times I operated. Few US
stations heard... GM/PA0INA/p: I try to join from a little campsite
with nearly no atenna possibility...
H2G: My first real attempt at this contest. High static
problems on LF bands. Hard to find takers for my QTCs, many DLs
refused!
HA1AG: My first full blown SO2R attempt. Although it was the
worst condx I ever had in a contest I enjoyed every minute of it.
With K being 6 and 7 entire weekend, I had to fight for each QSO.
May thanks to HA1DAE and HA1TJ for the use of their station
HB9AYZ: Didn't hear any U.S. station...
HB9DCM: Unfortunately the conditions of propagation weren't
so good....
HL4/VK3DXI: Great pleasure meeting club members of HL0RBU
who made my operation in this contest possible...
I3FDZ: Thunderstorm muted the receiver for several
hours...
IA5/DF2CH: Hot weather but much fun working DX from a QTH
close to the water. Just for a few hours and practising morse code
with the QTCs...
IR2V: Very poor conditions, but some nice sigs on 40: The
Caribbean stations were really very loud, both mornings, on that
band...
JF2FIU: Why did the magnetic storm spoil the whole day?
JG3VEI: Couldn't find many EU stations...
JH3AIU: Somewhat recovered on the second day but the total
score was decreased half of last year's. I expect bigger EU-JA
openings 10 to 20m next year!
JJ3TBB: I am glad that I could file almost all QTCs...
JR4PMX/1: Tough conditions!
K1ZZ: There was plenty of time to mow the lawn on
Saturday...
K3WW: Thunderstorm forced late start. Great contest but not
enough propagation. Solar storm forced other inactivity. Still
fun...
K4IU: Major solar storm wiped us out during first part of
contest...
K5ZD: Only a few minutes to join the contest...
K8CV: Propagation stunk...
K9GY/3: Rough conditions made the first day a little
trying...
KC1F: Conditions were terrible, worst I can remember since
my first WAE in 1971. Those who completed the contest are true
contesters...
KQ3F: Listening to EU at 00:45z on 15 meters on August 19!
Too bad that the contest wasn't one week later. But things got
better on Sunday...
LA9HFA: Strong aurora here in Norway...
LU1DZ: The first day was really frustrating. Second day was
better but was a hard a job to copy all those weak sigs. LU7EE is
an 90% hipoacustic using special magnetic coupled to the ear and he
operated 50% of the operating time...
LU1EWL: Once again my best score since 1981...
LY2BBF: Vy bad conditions first day...
LY2IJ: Most difficult contest ever. Preparing for good runs
on all bands on solar activity maximum year, but conditions were
worse than in a sun activity minimum. After such hard work I didn't
hear alarm clock to wake up on Sunday morning...
M5X: Our first entry in this contest and a pity conditions
were so bad. Looking forward to next year...
N3RD: Worst condx EVER in any contest we've operated. After
making only 30 QSOs in over 2 hours, 20 and 15 went flat, we made
the hard decision to quit. In addition, we suffered a 10 hour power
failure. However, never fear, we'll back in 2001!
N4AF: Solar and electrical storms made it hard to copy all
but the loudest stations...
N6ZZ/5: The solar storm almost blew WAE CW off the
bands...
N8LM/4: Only a few signals got above the noise level...
OH0/DJ7ST: Aurora - a wonderful natural phenomenon! But a
disaster on the air for contesters in Scandinavia...
OH1F: A typical Finnish radio propagation - this time the
rest of Europe enjoyed it too!
OK1FCA: Again better result than last year. See you in next
century...
OL4M: Vy vy vy poor condx, sri. Small pistol with 250W and
LW ant all band. My age is also not optimal: 73, hi. Can you
arrange some price for hams over 70 with over 100k points?
OL5Y: Horrible condx... finished after 19 hours...
ON4XG: No thunder storm this year. But what happened on
Saturday?
ONL383: KC1XX was coming 449 on 40 instead of 599 as usual.
Condx on Sunday a little bit better but surely not
exceptional...
PA0RRS: First day very bad conditions, second day a bit
better...
PT2AW: I don't mind about propagation, it's my favourite
contest!
PY2NY: 40m saved the contest with my new yagi. My best
result into this contest...
PY2YU: Super BIG QRN...
PY4FQ: Thanks a lot for nice contest...
RW9SW: The propagation's intrigue made this tour more
interesting. Thanks to all EU's for their patience...
S51TA: Poor band condx on first due to aurora...
S57U: I am very pleased for new low power entry...
SP4GFG: Thanks for enjoy - it was wonderful...
SP5GH: Condx vy poor but result slightly better than last
year, hi...
SP9NSV: One of may favourite contests. Wish I had more
time...
TA4/LY2FN: Thanks to the Antalya Radio Club team that gave
me a chance to participate in this contest...
UU5J: Conditions was almost disturbed during this WAEDC. No
chance to make big result at all...
V26FM: After arriving at airport of Antigua we had only 3
hours to set up the station and prepare for the contest.
Propagation to EU was not so good as expected, some daytime hours
were very hard to work EU...
VE4YU: All bands closed to EU until about 1500. Then 15m
okay but 20m no good. Slowly 20m came in late in the contest. It is
a fun contest!
VK2APK: Saturday was terrible and I am sure a lot of
operators gave up. After 5 hours I had only made 43 QSOs. Only on
15 meters I made more QSOs than last year...
VK4TT: QTCs make you think...
VP5Y: Saturday was a disaster. Sunday much better. Thanks to
all who moved!
VR2BG: conditions were awful...
W3BGN: WX cooperated, rainy, cool, dull, but bands didn't.
Solar flares killed Saturday. Managed to improve over last year by
putting in more hours.
W5NR: Very weak signals from Europe. Hope to see you in
2001...
W6NKR: Conditions were so worst I've never experienced.
Almost a blackout on Saturday the 12th...
W8GN: Three hours of operation...
WZ8A: Had it not been for KC1XX, there would have been
nothing to hear on Saturday...
YO4AAC: Tnx for the new country worked in the contest...
YO8RX/p: It was the finest contest from all...
YO9HP: Still a nice contest, in spite of my bad antennas and
of poor propagation...
YU7SF: My 42nd WAEDC-CW and 2224 contest entry since
1958...
YZ1SG: WAE is the most complex and most interesting
contest...
Z35G: I participated from QTH where eagles live - 1600m
asl...
