European DX-Contest CW 2006
Contest Echo
9M6XRO: Rig - Yaesu FT-1000MP & Quadra Linear, 400 watts output. Ants up 27m (1) 2el Quad (2) Butternut HF2V Vertical. Bands very flat. Openings to Europe were poor and much shorter duration than usual. I was not able to copy the weaker sigs to get a good run going. Sunday was slightly better than Saturday but that is not saying much! Fingers crossed for an upturn next year...
CN8YR: First time I use N1MM for WAE contest. I had problems to log some UU, RW, RK, stations because they are not considered as european stations. A serial number was given to these stations but they were not loged by N1MM. Sorry for following stations: UU9CI, UU7??, RN6HZ, RK2FWA, UA4LU, RW4PL, UA6LU, UA3QDX.
CU2JT: Social engagement prevented me from fully participate in this year's WAE contest. I worked most of my old contest friends to give them the CU multiplier as I believe no other CU station was on the contest. I was glad to notice that 15 and 10 meters were open to the USA and South America but I was surprised that the activity was not more intense on 40m first night. This is one of my favourite contests and it was a pity that other activities kept me away for a good deal of the time. I will be back next year and I will tell my wife to make a better planning on the cocktail parties and other activities during the WAE weekend. E-MAIL: garwik@yahoo.com
DD1IM: Normally I love the qtc traffic, but my 3rd wae was a disaster: worst performance ever, big time wasting with calling s9-stns, who did not hear my weak sigs, begging 4 qtcs while being overridden by qros. To enter with low power, poor ant condx & limited op time is pure masochism. Really a pity... but tnx 2 all ops, who did hear me. And also tnx 4 the often friendly way of qsoing. Vy 73, gl es cwfe de Sascha DD1IM (member of DARC, DOK K27)
DE0MBS: As there was no chance this weekend to operate under my call DL8MBS I gave the new K2 a try with a SWL-participation. Pure and simple setup: Only rx, wires, pencil and paper - no cluster, packet and no tape, too. But big fun.
DJ1OJ: band condx and op not in good shape....
DJ5GG: No contesting, sagte die XYL, an unserem 58zigsten Hochzeitstag. HI
DK0OD: TNX for all QSOs and QTCs - We hope to see you all again next year
DK9PY: Unfortunately I had to take a longer break than decided due to a lightning stroke that killed C7678 on my FT1000D, which created a nice Malfunction. All in all it was great fun to participate again in the best Contest after 16 years!!
DL0BO/P: This time a lot of problems with the equipment. Many new things worked not as they should work. Lost 6 hours. But all time a good feeling and next time the equipment will run 100%
DL0LA: Low sunspots kept high bands closed. Low bands weren't too good either, lots of static crashes on 80! Highlights were being called by VK6HD on 80 Saturday night and a surprising 10 m opening to the US on Sunday afternoon. Congrats to the competitors at DM1A!
DL4JU: Nice Contest, einziges echt sportlich. Many thanks, cul next year.
DL7UMK: Nice contest but maybe little less activity then last year. Saturday I had a hang up of my logging software, but no QSO was left. Sunday was a litlle opening on 10m to make some qso. See you next year!
DM1A: Year for year, 10m surprises us with a Sunday W/VE opening!
DM1TT: Thank you all for the QSOs and QTCs! This is a wonderful contest with no dead zone during the last hours of the contest due to the QTC exchange. Special thanks to DL4FAA, DK9VZ and DK1NB for their help.
DM4G: Zum ersten mal volle 48h als Klub, schöne Öffnungen nach W auf 20m am Samstag Nacht.
DM5EL: our first WAECW participation
DR1A: Großen Dank an DJ7EO und DO1ET, die mich ein bisschen an Ihrer "Top-Notch" Station spielen ließen...
DR5X: Every year a nice contest with good CW ops.
E21EIC: Good propagation on Low band on Saturday, but on Sunday high QRN. Lots of fun of QTC and Thanks to all QSOs.
EA8MQ: Very good contest tks all friends to next qso, 73
G0MTN: Once again only a part time entry. Too many static crashes - stations did not hear my call, my report, and QTCs were too hard! But that's what makes this a fun game !
G0VQR_P: I worked my best DX ever using the FT817 and the Miracle Whip Antenna. It was hard going with only 5 watts but great fun. I was on holiday in Newquay for the week so the station was very basic. I had the Miracle Whip fixed to a mag mount sitting by the window.
G3LHJ: Enjoyable contest wish I could have put more time to it - 10M would not open up to outside EU but 15M was good on Sunday.
G3RSD: Always enjoy this contest it is so different to others
G3TXF: It's the QTCs that make WAE-CW such a fun contest. There's great satisfaction in copying a set of ten QTCs from a weak DX station!
GM4SID: This entry is only a fun entry to see how this contest works and to try out how the SD logging software handles it. I did not receive any QTCs Maybe next year.
GW3SQX: Very good contest, but 36h is too long for older people! I created my own 18h section! I hope conditions are better next year. Thanks to DARC and 73, Ed
I2AZ: First time I am using SD WAE I will learn more about it
I2WIJ: It has been a semi-serious effort, due to family commitments. A lot of fun with QTCs, as always. Bob, I2WIJ
IK2AIT_2: No time for contest, but this is a superior event. The QTC separate participants, after many years I am still out. Rig IC735, pwr 70 w, ant 14AVQ gift of IV3BNU, served 30 years in Trieste, now on Lake Como. Best 73
IK2IKW: Vy bad conditions on Sunday
IK7FMQ: ciao de Gabriele Albanese 73 contest vy FB
JH9AMJ: I enjoyed sending QTCs for the 1st time! TU.
JI1ALP: Condx was very Bad. I was able to enjoy the contest though was a short time.
JO7KMB: Heard UU7J on 15m but cannot work. Zero QSO on 15m and 10m band! Enjoyed QTC traffic as usual. It is great contest!
K2TA: After 40 years in ham radio this was my first WAE effort. Those QTC's sure helped the score plus were a good cw workout for my fist. A bit surprised to hear 10 and 15 open. Thanks to the stations on those bands who tooked time to ask for multiple repeats instead of giving up. I like to stop my contests on round numbers and this was nice end. 250q's 236 mults 250 QTC's and 118,000 for final score. Rig K2/100/KAT-100 and 3 el wire yagi at 30ft on 40M, tribander at 30ft on 20/15/10. Dipole on 80....only 18q's on that band. Thanks for all the contacts gentlemen. A fine contest! (S&P with no cluster spotting)
K3DI: Operated with a multiplier station.
K4YKZ: A little too stormy on Echo Mountain to copy signals on 80 meters, but great to have some EU openings on 10 & 15 meters this year.
KG9N: Had some software problems so no qtc...sorry. What fun operating from VP9!! 73 K
KK8I: 100W, G5RV - Danke an alle, die mich gehört haben!
KS7T: I love it when 40 mtrs shows signs of life into Eu. This is a very difficult area of the world to work from my qth this time of year while it is still daylight just b4 sundown here while just b4 sunrise there plus qrn!
LN8W: I LOST MANY MYLTS ON LOW BANDS THIS YEAR, BUT IT WAS FUN TO BE ABLE TO COMPETE WITH THE BEST EU STATIONS. I WILL BE BACK!
M3CVN: Very Slow. But a very enjoyable contest, QTC's are so exciting and a good way to get CW speed up!
MM/DL6MHW: It was nice to here the top german station in action.
MU0FAL: always nice to have little pileups
N3RD: The weather cooperated this year by being clear and unusually cool for a mid-August contest. The A and K indices stayed low the entire weekend, even though there were threats of a solar storm. Although we managed only one QSO on 10m the first day, Sunday rewarded us with a mini-opening that netted 66 additional QSOs and 24 much needed countries (48 multipliers). We ended up with the second highest multiplier total since we started doing this contest in M/S in 1993. N1MM Logger was used for the first time, and it performed very well for us, especially in QTC sending mode. We ended up chasing KC1XX again, which is always fun to do, and keeps the excitement level high. Congratulations to Matt and his team for another fine job. WAE-CW is one of our favorite contests. Don't change a thing! See you next year, for sure.
N4GG: Thanks to the sponsors - I always enjoy this conteat!
N4PN: GREAT CONTEST - THE QTC EXCHANGE IS GREAT FOR KEEPING UP THE ACTIVITY. NICE TO HEAR 10M OPEN...MORE CONTACTS ON 10M THAN 80M - STRANGE!! THANKS TO THE ORGANIZERS FOR A FUN EVENT. 'TIL THE NEXT TIME
N4ZR: Please note that my QTH is in the US 8th Call Area.
N6AR_4: Terrible Noise on low bands; 10 was a surprise, but favored the NE USA! Only 20 hours this year.
N6MA: Not using spotting nets OPERATING FROM W7
NF4A: Was surprised that 10 meters opened on Sunday morning. QRN was murder on 80 and 40 Saturday night SORRY THE QTC LOG IS CORRUPT... TRIED TO REPAIR SOME OF IT QTC 2/10 THROUGH QTC 13/10 HAVE SOME DATA CORRUPT.
NN3W: First real CW WAE effort since 1996! Thanks to all for the QSOs.
ON5WL: Condx were not good and 15 and 10 m were poor. Good activity and nice to work in the contest I used SD for post-contest entry and it works fine. Thanks for the organization. See you in the SSB part. 73 Leon ON5WL.
OQ1C: Nur ein paar stunden QRV - In 2007 hoffentlich mehr zeit.
PA0JNH: I did not take QTCs - too difficult in CW Bad conditions
PY2NY: Leave TuPY Dx Group just this time while working from PS2T station (PY5EG owner) and low power. These guys can't accept that is possible to do something good with 100w hi hi
PY3DX: Dear WAEDC gentlemen, Below, you'll find my log with only 20 QSO's. Hope next year I can be more intense, in this excelent contest. This year, despites of bad propagation, I'm a serious candidate to win the 9BWAN (9 bans worked all neighbors) award. I bearelly could hear the EU stations due to bad prop., but mostly because my neighbor's knocking at the front door. Even running barefoot. Sorry. Best 73 de Paul - PY3DX (still alive, after all), hi hi protoledo@gmail.com
PY4FQ: Thanks for the contest. The condx was again very bad. Until the next year 2007. 73, Mario - PY4FQ
PY7OJ: TKS FB TEST. I SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.
RA1QN: 100 watts, ANT- GP, DELTA
RA3XEV: I had a litle time, but I got very good pleasure. Thank you very much for the contest. All the best and I hope, that we shell meet in the next year. 73!
RW1AC: Missed on 80 mtrs UA0 ! 4X,PY7,W7,JA6,JA8,JA9,ZS4TX (I turn PA and ant on 80 mtrs qsy for a long time, about 5 min, of course Bernie didn't wait for me... ) Thanks for qsy's to 80 mtrs V31JP,P43JB,CX5AO,9M6XRO,PS2T,PY3AU,PV8DX,VE9DX, LU7HN (qso on 3790) , and others... Mult VE1 was a really super dx, not on all bands, but VE0FA gave me a rare mult on 20 mtrs. Try to worked USA stations on 28 mhz, but no luck. I think my condx was later, when all USA stns did'nt need UA on 28 or lsn band. First time I made couple dozen contacts with W6,W7,W0 and VE7 (VA7ST) ! in summer WAECW on 15 mtrs. It was my 16th WAE CW, as always it was much fun and it's my favorite contest.

W9RE: Great Ops as always!
W9WI: mobile in PA, DE, MD, VA serial numbers screwed up and some received numbers are wrong. it's difficult to log while mobile!
YB0DPO: WAE CW with the QTC is fun, I enjoyed this one. bands condition is bad, 100watts is dificult on 40m and 80m, thanks to all for QSO/QTC,hope can participate again next year.
