European DX-Contest CW 2004
Contest Echo
4L2M: Basicly I was working on 3 bands: 15, 20 and 40m with output 100w.
4S7NI: A slight improvement this year try to come back strongly next year satisfied performance with a dipole feded by low power
7K2PBB: Unbelievable! I could heard UA4 & UR STN. on the almost-dead-10m band. Am only on 10m band & 3rd classed in JA, runnin' ONLY 10w output and Using whip ANT up ABT 13mh. CU on 10, 73 es GL from NR TOKYO!
9A7P: Hopefully next year I'll be back with serious effort! CU SSB & RTTY!
9A8MM: First time doing this contest. See you in SSB part!
AK2P: very nice contest! Good activity, and olso super propogation this years. Use only one FT1000MP+ TL-922. ANT KT-36XA, 40M3
C4C: Started off well on Saturday but condx on Sunday were very poor throughout the day. Thanks to all concerned for running the contest and hope to cu all again next year.
CT1ILT: Nice contest as usuall, conditions were up and down but always good signs from NA and ASIA. My goal, which was beat the EU record, was achieved as last year i lost many points because of the OFF time. 73's Filipe
CX7BY: Nice contest but few time free to be in radio.
D4B: My first WAE contest after many years and this is the first time I use SO2R in a contest. Many thanks to ZS4TX for the Super Combo Keyer/SO2R unit. Great gear!
DD1IM: Hi all, pse consider me for the following category: single op, cw, low power, not-assisted. As a CEPT-class-2-licensee (i.e. without official telegraphy exam) since 1979 I started cw in oct 2003 (tnx WRC03) & contesting in nov 2003. This is my 1st WAEDC-CW. Due to time problems I could only operate on sunday evening (59 QSOs, 150 QTCs). Agn my call has been a "handicap" - the prefix "DD" is still not popular enough in cw - abt 60 percent requests concerning my prefix - many stns gave me "DL" or "DK" - pse look for DL1IM or DK1IM-qsos... it should be DD1IM's. Being more active in cw-contests I hope to achieve a better ratio, hi. But it has been a great contest with great hams (thank you all for the contacts - some hispeed :-) - I enjoyed it! Tnx also for your work and the contest - hpe participate agn. Vy 73/55, gl es cwfe de Sascha DD1IM (member of DARC, DOK K27)
DJ1CW: Not good propogation on 14/28 mhz. Any way , many tnx for interesting Contest.See you in next year.
DJ2QV: this time only a part time operation with small antenna setup but still loads of fun !
DJ6TK: I had a lot of Problems with an old Version of CTWIN Programm I could not log all QTCs I got. Now with the latest Version is all ok but the Contest is over. Sorry Guys, I had not more time this Contest Weekend, we had a family meeting. No chance to work more than 10.000 Points, sri
DK1QO: Same as every year: best contest due to QTC-traffic. On 10m very bad conditions. Thanks for this big contest and see you next WAEDC-CW.
DK3WW: Gute condx, 80 u. 10m etwas schwieriger... Hat riesig Spass gemacht!
DK4CU: Heathkit HW9, 3 W out, Ground Plane.
DK7AN: Condx were very poor on ten meters. Lower bands had extreme strong QRN. I could study the real strength of my signal in DX. Half of UA9-stations on 80 m were s9plus but did not copy my 100 watts.
DLØBO/P: All time the gratest contest. Better antenna, new log programm. Doubled our resuslts of the last year. We started and ended in rain our portable aktivity. In between sunshine. Many thanks to our support team!
DLØBZ: This WAE was big fun, working from the DARC camp in Hatten. However, 10 m was totally dead here during the whole weekend. Had much more QTC traffic than last year which was a good compensation. Hope cu next year. 73 Marcus, DL1EKC
DL3DTH: Only on 10m I had the impression to be on the way to the next minimum, 15m was a nice surprise. AWDH next year!
DL3KWR: Timesharing with my husband DL3KWF - a lot of fun again - 24 h DX! At 50th WAEDC my best result so far. Cuagn 2005 and than more good luck with QTCs!
DL4AAE: DOK: P51 TX: TS520S, 100 W ANT: SLOPER Receiving QTC's is exciting fun!
DL5NA: Rig TS-950SD Cross Field Antenna
DL8FP: Nice to give points to a lot of WAE friends. Condx rel. poor. 10 m was not responsible.
EA8ASJ: VERY GOOD CONTEST THANKS Very much To ALL OM, And UNTIL NEXT DX 73
ES4MM: Thanks all OPs, who worked in my favourite CONTEST! CU next year! 73!
EW3LN: rvew3ln@tut.by I received QTC for the first time, Hi! Excuse me for slowly operating and mistakes.
F/NJØIP: Never again CT when using "/" in Call Sign! My call had 2x "/" which was a mess!
GØMTN: Part time - WAE CW is always on same weekend as my local carnival. Good fun as usual - despite conditions - but biggest challenge is to persuade stations to give QTCs. Next year I will try begging or offer money perhaps hi. I need more QRQ QTC practice too. 73 - Lee G0MTN
G3HKO: QTCs must be a real test of skill but on the downside it is a pain waiting for a rare contact while he is on QTCs - heigh-ho! Thanks for the contest. Sorry I had no more time but it was my 50th wedding celebration.
G3KKQ: Some early QTCs had errors. My poor typing. Later took Longhand with much improved accuracy.
G3RSD: My best effort yet. Getting used to QTC'S
G3TXF: It's the QTCs that really make WAE-CW a fun contest! Poor conditions on 10m and high static on 80m resulted in all the activity being on 40m-20m-10m. Was QRV 16 hours and S&P'ed for the entire contest. Not even one CQ!
G3UFY: Radio - FT1000MP + FL2100Z amp Power = 400W Antennas - 5-ele tribander (HF), Full-wave Loop (7MHz), Marconi (3.5MHz) Scoring breakdown ... QSO points = 389, QTC points = 368, Total = 757 Multipliers (enhanced) ... 80m = 40, 40m = 63, 20m = 60, 15m = 66, 10m = 12. Total = 241 As usual, activity disrupted by the need to work and sleep! Amazed to get USA on 28MHz in the evening. Not predicted!!! Notice that most stations now using computer-sent QTCs. Makes for a snappier contest. Wish I had a computer receiver, HI! This is still the hardest test of operating skill and concentration there is. Great fun! CU again next year.
G4DBW: Elecraft K2 10 watts output
GW4BLE: MAYBE JUST ENOUGH QSOs FOR A SUPER BOWL PRIZE? SEE YOU FOR A SERIOUS ENTRY SIGNING GW7X ON SSB!
H2G: Conditions terrible, just part-time this year.
HA1DAE: In this contest starting was from our contest station HG1S, but we had many problem with the CT by K1EA software. We probably many version but all was wrong for M/S. We are very sorry but very early end of the contest. Only 5 hours in the contest, than closing down. Dear Ken K1EA please be careful for MULTI SINGLE category! Very interesting was in the contest from home with my very poor station after the contest station. I very joined and very like this contest and make some contact and received some QTC, more station surprised when I transmit QTC? becuse I had very low signal. Congratulation for your jubilee. I will sure participant the SSB part, and maybe the RTTY part also. Thank you very much for the organizers.
HA7UG: Had no enough time to operate , but enjoyed indeed , thanks for all QSOs !
HB9QA: Konnte wieder nur reinschauen, Samstag peilen, Sonntag Familie Bedingungen waren annehmbar.
HSØZDZ: ENJOYABLE CONTEST, 100W ON LF IS HARD GOING.
I2AZ: This is the third time that I take part in this contest. It is very, very nice unfortunately conditions has been not very good for heavy QRN.
IK1RAC/1: Bad propagation during the day much better after sunset.
IN3QBR: That is a good contest for skilled operators. But I am not a skilled operator.
IR2V: WAEDC: Happy 50th anniversary! And thank you DARC Contest Committee! First time ever SO2R! What a nice experience! Let me thank Fabio, I4UFH, for lending me his own prototype of EZMaster, for a final test. It performed flawlessy for the whole contest. Just the op (me) was not at the same quality level! Apologise to the many that called me and thought I was a LID. I will surely do better next time. I made 10% more mults and a 10% more in total score. Is this result, for a SO2R beginner, in line with the expectations? It was fun anyway in copying those qtc's!. Cu next one. Bob, I2WIJ
IT9BLB: Just few QSOs operating barefoot, near the beach, with a piece of wire as antenna!
IV3/IK2AIT: To celebrate 50 years of this contest and of my first license (i1ycz/Trieste), I operated QRP from home of my mother-in-law. My station very poor! After the contest I discovered your web site. Complete and informative. In the 1955 results I found old friends, still active, from Trieste: I1BNU, I1BLF, I1YAK.
JA1AAT: 10 m Band not JA-EU this time. Look for next contest on 10 m band.
JA1BPA: First serious effort from my home in downtown Tokyo. The propagation seemed much better than expected, considering where we are in the solar cycle. Contesting in the middle of a city of 12 million people is never easy with S7 noise all the time on 15mb, I apologize to many stations for requesting the call sign or the serial number many times.
JA1CP: Had an enjoyable time, thank you.
JA2BQX: Tnx nice contest
JA8JCR: TNX FB contest, cu next year.
JA9CWJ: I have entryed WAEDC since about 30 years ago.
JE2SOY: Very excited to hear some European stations on 10 m.
JG3VEI: Condx for 21M and 14M was good, and I enjoyed QSO with many EU stations. On the other hand, I could not hear any EU on 28M.
JH3AIU: Condex on 15m was pretty good for latest low sunspot number. I propose half-time (18hrs) Single-OP category in WAE for OT and busy person can join easely.
JK2VOC: Thanks for Nice contest. Very Good condx on 15m!
JO1WIZ: It was difficult to work with many station in EU, but I enjoyed the contest. Thanks pickup my weak signal.
JP1SRG: I am 72 years old. It is very happy I could still enjoy WAEDC Contest.
JR1NKN: This was the first time I participated in the contest. It was fun.
K1EP: First WAE Contest. It was fun to figure out the QTC part! Unassisted Category
K2NV/VE3: Great fun working WAE while sailing Lake Ontario! Had to reduce power to 30w or less to use Autopilot with XYL on watch. Nice to work a contest with so many skilled operators. See you next year? 73 - Tony K2NV/VE3 aboard "BellaDonna".
K3DI: Error: Operated Multi-2 until read rules at 0517Z. Therefore, 10 minute rule often violated before QSO 136. Computer crash lost QSO 137, 138, 139 and jumped from QTC 11/5 to QTC 15/7 -- No QTC 12/, 13/, or 14/. We will do better in the SSB and RTTY contests! -K3DI ,
K3MD: New QTH after 9 month wait. New ant (4L quad) and 40M ant (Super loop 80) worked well.
K3UW: Beat last years numbers. 15 meters open all day Sunday to Europe. Actually had some mid day Q's! Everything done with dipole and G5RV.
K4AMC: Congratulations 50 Years WAE Contest. This year my 50th year a Ham (1954-2004). Always enjoy Qsoing my many Germany friends.
K4AQ: Thanks to DL1IAO/40m (Friday evening) and F5IN/20m (Sunday evening) for copying my QRP sigs. Other stns could not copy me well enough for a full exchange--thanks for trying--at least I know you heard me. Yaesu FT-897 transceiver operated at 5 watts into a 5-MHz OCF 28-gauge insulated wire stealth antenna up 40 feet in heavy foliage trees next to I-75 in downtown Atlanta industrial area. SGC SG-237 Smartuner. WriteLog 10.48f.
K4IU: Even from 10 call district USA conditions were excellent on 21 mhz on both days. Unfortunately nothing on 28 mhz. Thanks to the WAEDC for fun contest.
K4OGG: Hurricane Charlie between EU and me didn't help early in the contest. Condition
K4RO: Great Contest. FB CW Ops. C U Next Year.
K4YKZ: 15 meters was great, but on 10m could only hear African and South American stations working into Europe. Frustrating!
K5VG: Mobile CW contesting is interesting.
K5ZD: Good conditions on all bands. Nice to work Europe on 10m scatter on Sunday.
K6VVA: MY 1ST TIME EVERY SENDING WAE QTC. ONCE I GOT THE HANG OF IT, I COULD HARDLY WAIT TO SEND QTC AGAIN! WHAT A REAL SLICK PROGRAM TRLOG IS FOR DOING THIS. THE FUN I HAD PART-TIME IN THE WAE MORE THAN MADE UP FOR THE TERRIBLE QTH & LOW CLOUD WARMERS HERE.
K8AJS: I recently moved and so do not have my antennas erected yet. I spent the weekend with a Hustler 5BTV vertical. I'll be VERY glad when I have my quad back up.
K8IA/7: Enjoyed the QTC format. Especially from out here in the west where Eu QSO's can be sparse. EU guys have great ears.
KEØG: QRP only on this end. Thanks to all who slowed their pace to work my QRP. 73. I am thrilled with 33 DX QSOs!
KN4Y: Great conditions and great operators make for a great contest.
KN6Y: fun LA9PCA: Thanks for nice contest! FT-1000/FB-Dipole = weak signal.
LU4MHQ: Tx: Made in Home - tubes (1) 6AK5 - (2) 6U8 and (1) 6AQ5 for 7.0 Mhz. only Rx: Made in Home - solid state for 7.0 Mhz. only. Pwr: 10 Watts output Keyer: Made in Home electrónic. Ant.: Dipole Up 20 mts. Look Europe.
LY2IJ: TNX to LY1PM for his station! Celebration on 50 th aniversary! It is most important contest for me every year!
MM/DL6MHW: Operating from a small VW mobile camper with two children (1 and 5 years old) was a real challenge. Morover I had to change the QTH during the contest to get a good skip to west. During a very speedy attack baby thomas reached the VFO knop and changed the QRG. So I lost some QTCs. However big fun contest. WAEDC ist simply the best. TNX to DL3ABL for the support.
N3RD: Great conditions on 80m the first night had us hoping for really big numbers on that band, but the second night was a bust. 20m and 15m were slightly better the second day. Sunday also had a nice scatter path opening on 10m, where we used our new yagi at 150 feet high. Altogether a very fun contest. Congrats to our friends at KC1XX for an outstanding effort. Thanks to DARC for sponsoring this very enjoyable contest. Working our friends in EU at high speed CW is such a blast!
N4CW/1: MOST ENJOYABLE! THANKS TO ALL WHO WERE VERY PATIENT.
N4NTO: Enjoyed the brief time I got to play!
N4PN: Condx were good...stayed on 20m way too long...just couldn't force myself to try another band - 20m was open just about all night both nights...missed the best night for 80 and 40m it seems. Great time with scatter on 10m Sunday afternoon..pipeline into Germany only!!!
N5AW: NICE CONDITIONS ON 15 AND 20 - NOTHING ON 10. LOTS OF QRN ON 40.
N9RV: Nice conditions. No time for full time this year. Please eliminate the increased weight of 40/80 mults.
NL7G: Thanks to all that picked my signals out of the QRM on 15m.
NY4A: About 27 hours. Hurricane caused QRT all day Saturday. 73, Howie N4AF
OE1TKW: First try with Writelog, ufb!
OH6YF: Conditions were luxory! Thanks for all the fun I had!... Harry OH6YF
OK1DVK: cndx vy poor - wkd only stns needed for 9BDXCC + USACA awards.
OK1JOC: Using FT817, 5watts out., zepp.ant.17m up
OK2-9329: Very good Contest and perfect DX and EU operators. See you again in WAE SSB and WAE RTTY contests friends.
OK2SWD: Very good contest as usually See you next year friends. My age 66.
OK5SWL: Very good contest and perfect operators. See you next year again friends.
OLØA: DX CLUSTER NOT USED I had good fun despite condx not ideal. Enjoyed QRQ QTC traffic. Appreciated the patience of OP's who resend QTC when asked to, on the other hand it is a bad practice to cut sending QTC after first RPT request (like e.g. a JR4...). Thanks for FB contest, CU next year.
ON4KVA: GOOD CONTEST PROPAGATION NOT GOOD FOR MY ! 73's ON ALL THE OM's
ON5WL: Ten metres band was dead for DX Nice contest but it is difficult to call CQ with 100 W. Till next year
ONL383: My free time was severely limited this year but it is a must for me to send a small log.
OZ7BQ: Conditions very unstable, sometimes good openings, sometimes very little to do for a QRP station
P43JB: worst conditions ever, nice tst !
PAØATG: Nice Contest. Good CW readability. Bad CONDX
PAØMIR: Very pleased to be able to participate for a couple of hours. Returned from holiday late saturday evening but wanted to join in the fun for the jubilee part. However, all antennas were down and had to do without the dipoles for low bands. 36 Years ago was my first entry as a class N (New) in WAE SSB. Maybe with all newcomers on HF this category needs a revival.
PA1V: Not so long QRV but glad to be in the 50e WAE
PA3AFF: FUNNY TO HEAR YOUR OWN CALL WHEN LISTENING TO QTC-TRAFFIC.
PA3BFH: Just a few QSO's. Tks/GL
PA3EWP: Had only a few hours time to participated.
PA3GVI: I tested my antenna on my new qth.(2x 10 meter wire). Power used was 0,5 to 10 watts at the most.

PY2OMS: FIRST ATEMPT CW SINGLE OP
PY4FQ: The condx was very bad, but the contest was fantastic!

RU4SS: See you on SSB and RTTY!
RV3DBK: QRP 2 Watts, ant: magnetic loop (indoor) TX 2W ant Magnetic loop (indoor)

RV9COI: Equipment Description: TRX IC-750as PWR OUT 10 WATT ANT DELTA LOOP ALL BAND
S57DX: I AM NOT FAST ENOUGH SO I COPY QTC'S ON PAPER. AFTER THE CONTEST IT IS A VERY BORING JOB TO RETYPE ALL QTC'S IN THE LOG. ALSO IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE DOUBLE MISTAKE'S (FIRST IN THE CONTEST AND LATER WITH RETYPING). ANYWAY I LIKE WAEDC VERY MUCH. IT'S THE BEST CONTEST! 73 DE S57DX
S58A: Big QRN on lower band but enjoy anyway.
SM7BJW: What makes this contest so different from other contests is the QTC handling. But why not change the rules so everbody can send QTC's as in the RTTY contest? Pretty good conditions both days. A little better on sunday from this end. 10 was bad - only 5 worked. VK and ZL nothing heard of. I wonder why? Everybody else was in there. All in all a very enjoyable contest Planning to show up in the upcoming SSB and RTTY parts.
SP3BGD: Tnx for nice contest. Hpe cuagn. Vy 73 de Stan
SP9H: AGAIN NICE CONTEST. FIRST TIME AS MULTI OPERATORS, LOW POWER. RUNNING ONLY 30 W ON 10, 15, 20M AND 100 W ON 40, 80M; ICOM 765, TH3JRS AND DIPOLES.

TI3M: TNX ALL STATIONS THE EUROPE BY THE QSO's THE CONDITIONS IN COSTA RICA NO GOOD BUT VERY NICE CONTEST I LIKE THE QTC's VERY
UA2FZ: One of my favorite test. Seems like activity increased this time. Thanks to all who QSY by my request.
UA6LP/6: Rig: IC-718, mobile antenna 2 m long.
UA9CBO: Enjoy working Europe with simple wire one element antennas. Looks like most of contesters are now over-powered and separate class should be made for guys operating by hand with simple antennas - hi.
UA9CDC: Power went down at my LP country side QTH so could only work about 16 hours. Hop
UA9XF: ft-840 dipole 200W
UU5WW: Nice Contest! Next year wll try operate full time all bands.
UZ4E: 4 hours worked only. Unfortunately, were not actively able to participate, the operators of club station were found either on a sea, or there were complications with work. But we did for this time 100 QSO and 250 QTC. 73!
VA3HUN: Much better propagation than I expected.
VE3DZ: Celebrating my 30 years of contesting!
VK3WWR: even I made only a few contacts it was a nice excersise.
VK4GQ: More difficult from VK than G! And I missed the opening to Europe on the first day. Thanks to all the Europeans who received my QTCs. Always good fun.
VK6DXI: Just managed a short operation this year. I hope for better next time.
VU2UR: ENJOYED THE CONTEST AGAIN. IT WAS NICE TO WORK WITH THE MANY OLD FRIENDS FROM THE WORLD OVER.
VY1JA: Cndx gud. First 15 Meter opening in months here. N5OT A4 Tribander in place at 33 meters was a real change from V-Beam. QSL via N3SL.
W2UDT: Condx spotty but gud sigs on 40/20/15M. Not much time to operate but enjoyed the WAE! One of my favorites! CU all next year.
W3FV: This is a fun contest! Wish I had more time to devote to it Thanks to all for the contacts and cul on other modes
W3YY: Very enjoyable. Family activities limited my time, but still had a chance to operate quite a bit.
W6FA: Conditions were not the best, but it was fun.
W6NKR: Generally poor conditions with no 10 meter activity and no EU on 40.
W6UM: Congratulations on the fiftieth WAE contest! I believe I was active in the very first running of this contest, and have operated from stations W3FYS, W3GRF, and W6UA as well as under my own call. I still have a WAE award certificate from 1960, as well as some from more recent times. It was much more fun from W3 than from W6, even back when QTC's were sent and logged by hand.
W9ILY: I ALWAYS ENJOY THIS CONTEST, ESPECIALLY THE QTC/S. THANKS FOR YOUR HARD WORK ORGANIZING THE CONTEST. YOU ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE.
W9RE: Was never planning on operating near full time but conditions were a pleasant
WD4GBW: elecraft k2 at 5 watts and 3 element beam
YI9KT: ICOM-735,ANTENNA R7000 I HAVE WORKED ONLY IN MY FREE TIME /ABOUT 15h/.I HAD THE GREAT PLEASURE TO START FROM IRAQ IN THIS CONTEST.SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
YL2LY: The best contest while here are QTCs
YO6BHN: See you for the SSB contest
YT6A: Summer gathering at sunny Mediterranean Montenegro contest QTH always succesfull due to great wx, sunny beaches... However, seems as guys liked staying at the controls of the stations rather than having fun on the beach.
ZL2AZ: Conditions very poor - well down from last entry in 2002 (working in Vietnam in 2003). No signals heard at all on 80, 15 and 10 meters! Band openings short and weak.
ZW5B: No 80 meter antenna during this contest, our 4 el. KLM was broken ! Thanks to our friend Atilano Oms for give us his stations for this contest.
