European DX-Contest CW 2002

Contest Echo

5B4/G0LII: Great contest as usual, see you in the RTTY.

7K2PBB: Condx's not good at all, my LOVE 10m is now goin' down 2 the bottom. PSE QSY 2 the 10m band, everyone! Am 3rd classed in JA, runnin' ONLY 10w output and using whip ANT up ABT 13mh but someday, The world's gettin' closer and closer 2 me, I feel.

7S5C: Have to apologize to a few DX operators. My CW interface broke 3 times so they didn't get my exchance No. This contest is fun. But it is even more fun if all my gear was running OK.

9A8YL: This time it was a good chance to activate my new callsign and we decided to work together as Multi Op. Thanks a lot for a plenty of beautiful QSOs.

9Y4/DL5MAE: Entered the contest only for 9 hours. Find conditions poor and wonder why many European countries not being active at all.

AY1DZ: I enjoy this contest since many years ago. It is the best. It is alway testing your skill. Congratulation to all very Good European CW Operators.

AY4MHQ: My special call for 25 years anniversary of GACW.

AY7EE: I send my excuse to all Eurupean friends who call me near the end of the contest on 80 and I was not ear. I am not in competition conditions as you can see, but until the end of my life, I will to participate in your and other international contest. My congratulations to all the EU operators for his capability copying the QTC's. WONDERFULL !!!

BX3/DJ3KR: First time I used full computer logging (CT9). This makes book keeping etc. too easy as compared to historical contest times, when all had to be done by hand. Where is the full operation skill now?:

DF1DX: Eine QRP-Klasse wäre toll - oder zumindest ein '+' als Kennzeichen in der Ergebnisliste.

DH1TW: wird eh nicht abgedruckt

DJ1CW: Danke für den schönen Contest. Ich habe sehr viel Spaß gehabt!

DJ6TK: WAE CW with QTC Traffic and without any Recorder the best Contest for ever!

DJ7ST: Not only no holiday (of course would have been OH0/DJ7ST), but even QRL on saturday and sunday. But enjoyed the taste of WAEDC for a few hours.

DK1QO: My first participation in WAE-Contest with my simple rig/antenna. Hard concentration for QTC-traffic, but big fun. Thanks for the nice contest and see you in 2003

DK5IM: Die sehr gewöhnungsbedürftige neue Bewertung kompliziert die Abrechnung. WAE künftig ohne mich!

DL0XM: Grillparty mit angeschlossenem Contest.

DL1BUG: some times a hard job with 100W and Doublet, but the result is ok.

DL1IAO: Only 26 hours...

DL1MGB: That was my first WAE and I enjoyed it. At the beginning I had some trouble getting all QTCs right in the log, but situation improved by the time.

DL3AMA: Bedingungen miserabel, aber Multi-Änderung ist super! Auch 100W Klasse ist Klasse.

DL3DTH: Was the first contest from new QTH, Antennas are running fine. Condx were not bad but sometimes tough with low power...

DL8FP: The pleasure in QTC traffic will reduce by working handmade. I'm 63 years old, hi.

DL8QS: Starting just for fun, any thundeerstorms and QSL this year.

ES4MM: Ants simples, power TX small, condx not FB - but vy tnx for my favourite contest! hpe cuagn in WAEDC-2003!

G0WXJ: Had some antenna problems but good fun. This was my first CW contest.

G3KKQ: The first time I have taken QTCs which made it more interesting.

G3RSD: Most enjoyable. The Contest with that little something different!

G3SQX: This is a great contest! My strategy was not good, but I enjoyed it very much. Thanks to DARC for their work.

G3TXF: Best part of WAE-CW : the QTCs - I love them! Worst part of the Contest : the frenzy pile-ups following a Cluster spot, with stations just calling and calling without listening.

G4BUO: Very glad that DARC now recognises unassisted entries.

H2G: Very bad line noise here caused by fault in street lighting S9 all bands from 2000 to 0600 local time. Can hardly believe that I stayed the course and beat last year's score too.

HA/W0YR: Many thanks for a wonderful contest. CW op ranks may be thinning out but the quality of those remaining is EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH.

HA5091: Glad for nice contest in CW!

I1BAY: All QSO only 5 watt my trx Yaesu FT817.

I3FDZ: New category and multipliers has been a good change, why not reduce the competition time to 36 hours, from sat 1200 to sun 2400?

IR2V: It should have been a serious effort, but passed my first 13 hours of the contest in bed, with a bad cold, that let me down the whole weekend, and some more days later too.

J41YM: CONDX are going worse and worse especially saturday. Not even one QSO on 10m with U.S.A. The best surprise was when YJ8MN replayed my CQ.

JF7GDF: I worked 9 minutes. Thank you.

JG3VEI: A few weeks before the WAE contest, two typhoons attacked my region and my antenna was broken. I could repair my antenna just after the WAE contest had started. Because I was so tired for repairing my antenna, I could not operate full hours.

JH3AIU: WAE is the most favorite event during my summer vacation.

JH7QNG: 71 years old.

JN7OJA: Thank you excellent CW op in EU.

JP1SRG: 10 meter band was poor in Japan.

JR3BVX: This year is my amateur radio station's 30th anniversary year (since 1972).

JR7HOD: My poor dipole 3m high above the ground was well worked. If more better, my multipliers on low bands would increase.

K3NK: Enjoyed the contest!

K4JA: Great Contest! I made it over 1 million!

K4OGG: I really like the 36 hour format for single ops. Thanks to DARC for a very fun contest that many folks are missing!

K4TCG: The best CW contest around!

K6XX: First try at WAE.

KC1F: I had only a short time to operate this year, because of celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary (N1AU +XYL). Hello to all the contesters I met in person at WRTC 2002 in Finland!

KJ9C: Just a part time effort.

LA7MFA: Always fun to be part of this one. This year even more QTC and yet another LA best score.

LU1EWL: My transceiver's power supply kaput at 11:17 UTC. I am very grateful to my friend and neighbor Aldo, LU4DKV, who repaired and revived it, making possible my return to the contest at 1707 UTC. Many thanks, Also!!!

LY2PX: Seems it's time to let younger guys to try they luck in WAE. I think myself I did enough: since 1968 each year in WAE Cw , and every time was competing for top positions. It's always sad to say goodbye but it's time to do so.

LZ1FJ: Sorry, 15 W only es ant wire 20 meters long.

M5X: A great contest as usual, found that TR was broken for mult checking on call areas which hampered our mult station. Resorted to paper check sheets to keep track of call areas worked.

N2NC: Nice scatter opening on 10m Sunday.

N3RD: Great contest! We like the new rule with no 10 minute requirement for the multiplier station.

N6AW: I never miss the WAE CW, one of my favorite contests. Condx not so good from the west coast this year.

N9RV: Fun contest. Conditions were bad the first day, but that is part of the game. No one was louder than S8 on 15 all weekend.

NY4A: Condx down this year but noise/thunderstorms not as bad as normal. Tks for abolishment of S/O 10Min rule.

OH2NFS: Enjoyed WAEDC again first time since 1975. QTC-traffic makes working this CW contest so much fun - even with a sole wire ant.

OK1MNV: Not very good conds for low power. Not open 10 m to USA. Cuagn in next year!

OK2-9329: Very good Contest and perfect DX and EU operators.

OK6A: It's very good contest. I have only 100w/tribander+dipol.

OL0A: Condx very poor, especially the first day, but I had fun.

OM3PA: Nice fun in the middle of summer.

ON4ADZ: My first cw contest. I used no pencil or paper. I had a hard time with the qtcs. Glad that the new rules make a 100w category.

ON4KVA: First contest WAEDC; nice test.

ON5ZO: Had a great time, worked some nice DX on a simple 20m dipole and 40m delta loop. First year of copying QTC, CU all in 2003 for more QTC and hopefully better antennas!

P3F: WAE is a great showcase for slick contest operating. It was a real pleasure to hear so many excellent operators in action. The most contest fun I've had in ages.

P43JB: Thanks for a very nice contest!

PA0FEI: Too less experience in CW for this great contest!

PA3AFF: Just gave away a few points and did listen to (vy QRQ) QTC traffic.

PA3CLQ: Amazing how many dx stn are qrv and hear hr in PA land in the contest, fb.

PA5TT: Nice contest, am using older version of TR logging, so hope my edits on mults are ok.

PJ2M: Still my favorite contest! Lost the computer about 20 minutes in. Thanks to everyone who QSY'd for me. Hope to see you all next year!

PX2W: We decided (my brother and me) to entry in contest as MS for the first time in WAE, was cool, but we have some problems. Anyway, to a little pistol and youngster group we have a good score, great weekend.

PY2NY: Not enough to beat PV8DX at north of our country and near of Europe!! Not great conditions, but my best QSO number any WAE Contest.

PY4FQ: Thanks for this nice contest. Until the next 2003 WAE contest!

RA3XEV: This is my first WAE contest. Very good contest.

RK9CYA: We have a lot of fun even with a old homebrew rig.

RT9W: Because of the technical problems we had to use paper log during the contest.

RU1A: We would like to thank Contest commettee WAE for rule changes and new multiplyer count which made WAEDC much better.

RX3AGQ: no comments.

S56A: Enjoyed ZL6QH, VK6HD; HS0/G3NOM on 80 m! No USA on 10 m. Nice condx on Sunday.

S57NL: Mein erster wae contest, ich bin zufrieden.

S58A: I have overslept second night. Never mind enjoy anyway. New rules is much better.

SM3-8055: I am only trying to learn CW, and this is one way to do it: listen in on a CW contest. My CW skill and my score is not high, but my desire to learn CW is much, much higher. Thanks for good practice every one!

SP3GTS: Very poor conditions on 80 and 10M, but great fun with QTCs. See you next year.

UA1CEC: It was my first WAE DX Contest. Not good result but hope to meet all DX stations next year.

UA9FM: Like to spend more time in SSB leg. Try to find voice machine!

UT8IT: Perfect competitions! But has not done without afflictions. The computer some times hanged.

UY5ZZ: New rules is better! I think new rules also good for DX-in this test we have many new DX stations with different prefix!

VE7ASK: Conditions were OK on Saturday afternoon, but lousy on Sunday. This is a contest for beams, not dipoles like mine. My thanks to those with great ears! Will try this one again in 2003.

VE9DX: Good fun... Enjoy QTC's. Sure wish condx were better. Aurora Friday night did not help... Heard 2 Europeans and worked 1

VK2APK: This was my 551st contest. My age is 82 years. Conditions were not so good as last year, resulting in a lower multiplier, but it was the first time I made more than 1000 QSOs and QTCs in this contest.

VK2QF: Poor conditions!

VK4UW: Did not operate for very long, thanks for enjoyable contesting.

VK5GN: hanks for contest not available all weekend but tried to hand out as many QSO's as possible.

VU2UR: First time sending an electronic log to you. Hope it is acceptable.

W1TO: Limited time to operate due to family visit.

W2UP: Always a fun contest. Too bad condx weren't better. How about switching dates and modes from year to year, so each mode gets to experience summer condx?

W3BP: Great contest. I will be back next year to operate on the other bands. QTCs were fun. Great EU ops.

W3TMZ: Conditons not very good, really enjoyed this event.

W4SAA: Enjoyed my first WAE. Condx poor Saturday, a little better Sunday. Never did hear EU on 10m. QRN bad on 80m so few QSO,s there. WAE was still great fun. I like the QTC's and contest format. Lots of good operators in this contest.

W9ILY: Conditions were really only poor. 80 and 40 very noisy with QRN. 10M not open to EU from Midwest, only to SA. Too bad! Maybe condx will be better for RTTY!. Still, I had fun, and that's what is important!

WZ8A: Seemed like more multipliers (countries) were participating this year, compensating the score for some poor propagation and QRN conditions.

YL2GD: Worked just for fun less than 24 hours.

YL8M: Nice to run pileup and search for mults and QTC's with second radio. 10m was died. No any peep from USA here. DX cluster helps very much.

YR8A: Bad condx in high bands (first day); bin QRN, warm, but was a great pleasure to take part at this wunderbar contest! vy 73!

Z32AF: Limited time of operation and big software problem during the contest. During the contest nobody asked me for QTC, only to make qsy on other band.

ZL2AZ: Conditions down from 2001. No 10 metres signals or opening. Poor on 15 m. Very poor on 80 m!! So much for sunspot maximum.

ZS4TX: First attempt at part-time WAE. See you next year!
