European DX-Contest CW 2001
Contest Echo
erstellt von Ben, DL6RAI
9A7P: TU for excellent contest as always. CU next year
and I hope with serious effort.
9M2JI: Many stations asked me to QSY.... I confused and
break 10 min rule. But happy to work many stations on 40m!
C4A: Poor condx last two hours prevented me in breaking
JY8WA record, but I'll keep trying. Jumping from band to band with
SO2R much easier.
CX9AU: On 80 listened around 20 EU stations, but not lisent
me execept DL3TD and RU1A, this one the bigest signal.
DF0DC: Warum das Programm die ersten 10 QTC nicht
bearbeitet, weiss ich nicht. Da ich im Terminstress bin, verzichte
ich auch ohne murren auf die fehlenden Punkte.
DF0SX: Super contest as usual; Power increase from 100W to
400W doubles number of QSOs and QTCs comparing with 1999.
DF2IY: Thanks to everybody for copying my, as I was
operating with 10 W output and on an indoor dipole.
DH2URF: Leider nur sehr einfacher RX. Sehr guter Contest
fuer CW Arbeit.
DJ5BV: Leider sind durch ein defektes Tonbandgeraet
(Aussetzfehler) 180 qtcs auf der Strecke geblieben.
DJ7ST: My first home-call entry after many OH0-holiday
participations. Nevertheless: familiar feelings!
DK0MV: Erste WAE Teilnahme.
DK3BN: Hatte leider wenig Zeit bei meiner 31. Teilnahme am
WAEDC, dem schoensten Contest ueberhaupt in CW.
DK3GI: I apologize for making some DX-Stations violate the
rules and give me a multiplier within their 10 Min window.
DK4CU: 3 W out, GP + Delta Loop.
DL0XM: Fielddaystyle WAE, 24h Aufbau, 48h Funken, 24h Abbau
gibts dafuer eine eigene Kategorie?
DL1BUG: Good condx, good activity - first time more than
100,000 points.
DL3DTH: Good condx, only 10m was difficult with 100W and
vertical. This condx were probably the compensation for the last
year ;-)
DL4HG: Leider war 10m wieder sehr ruhig.
DL4JU: My first WAE Contest! Thanks for enjoy - it was
wonderful. See you in next year.
DL5AKF: ca. 1,3 m GP am Balkon, hi!
DL5KUD: Meine erste Teilnahme an diesem interessanten
Contest. Bis auf das QRN auf 80 m hat es richtig Spass gemacht.
QTCs sammeln (ohne Richtantennen) ist doch schon eher eine
Herausforderung als ENNA4.
DL6MHW: Some problems with wet koax and moving SWR made the
decision to renew every koax part of the quad antenna. The goal of
100K points was rechable beside some other weekend activies.
DL7VZF: Das QW wollte KL9 nicht als Alaska akzeptieren -
musste etwas tricksen -hi.
DL7YS: QTCs mit QW,m it is fun.
DL8FP: Condx vy good on all bands!
DL8WX: Interesting openings on 10, extremely loud signals on
40, one of the best contest condx since three decades. Interesting
to hear one RT9 station is in Europe, another RT9 is in
Asia....
DL9AWI: Bei N2NC sind mir leider 4 qtc verloren
gegangen.Habe mir schon 12 QTCïs abgezogen.
EA2CR: 50 years in ARS licencia 1950 contiuous. FB european
contest.
EA5FID: See you next year.
EM3J: Nice contest! See you again! 73!
ES4MM: TNX for nice Contest! 73 to all friends! Hpe cuagn in
next WAEDX contest.
G0WHO: Great fun, but the QTC exchange demands
concentration.
G3RSD: Propagation better this year, most enjoyable
G3TXF: Long live QTCs. They really are fun!
G3UFY: My logging program crashed and I lost all my QTC
data. Please treat this as a checklog. Vy 73 until next year.
G3ZRJ: VR2 and NH2 were unexpected bonusses in less than
great conditions. Generally high standard of operating this year,
very few rough signals. Thank you to all who organised another
great WAE, your efforts are greatly appreciated.
G4OGB: QTC's - had trouble with recorder system. Don't blame
the senders!
GW7X: Where can I learn to type!
H2G: Bad cndx on LF this year QRN on 80m very bad here.
HA1AG: I lost the first 7 hours due to blackout caused by a
direct lightning hit on the transformer station. It took lots of
mental energy to start the contest at 0648 at all. For me the WAE
CW is THE CONTEST... Managed to get 5-band QSO with CO8ZZ, EX8W,
H2G, HS0AC, J38PA, JE4VVM, JY8TE, K2NG, K5KG, KC1XX, XL3UZ, ZC4DW,
ZW5B. BIG thanks! I could not get the number of ZL6QH on 80, who
called me but I had no chance due to jamming. CX9AU was OK on 80
but could not hear me.
HB9AYZ: Schoen, dass es auch mit QRP klappt!
I1QGZ: My contest is little: I am 79 years old, hi!
I3FDZ: Les than 24 hours of operations this year, not
enought to reach the top ten HI!
IR2V: Not a serious effort, but wanted to be there.
IS0IGV: Very good contest. Propagations negative on 10 mtr
bands. At nex time!
J38PA: We enjoyed this contest very much. A pitty that we
had for a very long time a lot of local QRM (S9+) on all bands.
Otherwise we could make a few hunderds of QSO's more.
J41YM: I had to fight with EU stations which thougt that I
am JA or some rare DX.
JA3YPL: I hope you tell me how many QTCs you need, when you
ask me for QTCs. With my logging software, I cannot check in
realtime how many QTCs are rest.
JA9CWJ: My favourite contest. I enjoyed it very much, but 28
MHz were poor condx.
JE3UHV: I have enjoyed the contest and I am stisfied with my
score. I regret that I could not hear EU station on 3.5MHz and
28MHz in my poor antenna. Thank you.. I am looking forward to the
next contest, good condx.
JG3VEI: Very good condx for 15m and 20m. I enjoyed to work
many EU stations.
JH7QNG: 70 years old.
JK2VOC: Thanks for WAE contest! Very good conditions.
JN7OJA: This is my favourite contest! QTC rule is fun!
JP1SRG: 10 m band was poor but I could achieve my best score
in this contest hi!
JW/DJ3KR: Even this singular multiplier JW did not help me
to create the common pile-ups, I am used to when operating from
Svalbard. In contest the European big guns are strongly overriding
such a rare multiplier. The only way then was for me to search for
DX, multipliers and QTCs. 7 and 3.5 MHz were not useable since
midnight sun still prevents use of these lower bands at high
latitudes. 28 MHz was only open for less than 1 hour into east
coast US.
K0VSV: My computer failed to write the QTC log correctly so
I can only claim the act ual QSO's. I did QTC 220 QSO's but have no
proof to send.
K1ZZ/VY2: By the time we arrived at our rented vacation
cottage on the beach, the contest was almost half over. It is
always fun to work operators who can copy 10 QRQ QTC from a station
running 100 watts to a vertical!
K2NV: Great Contest. Also had some QSO's from K2NV/VE3 while
sailing Lake On
K4JA: Almost a million!
K5KG: DARC needs to get more support for this contest in the
USA. It needs to be on a par with the ARRL DX Contest in terms of
participation by US stations to create more activity for the
European stations. Top scoring European stations need to be making
more QSO's than the US stations!
K6III: Fun Contest
KE9I: Excellent contest! See you again next year.
KF0U: First Time I work WAE with my log program. Made a few
mistakes with my numbering.
KJ9C/M: South Carolina: In driveway KJ9C/4. On road KJ9C/M.
North Carolina QSO #37 G3ZRJ. Tennessee QSO #46 YT6A. Kentucky QSO
#49 DL0SLZ. Computer died before Cincinnati. PC got carsick.
KQ3F: Comments: My favorite contest, and conditions were
much better than 2000!
KW4DA: 10 dead, 15 Hot, 20 not. Overall a good contest, got
a late start.
LA7MFA: I still do not dare to use CT to log QTC traffic, it
is not fast enough. Hopefully I will practice and try this next
year. I spent too much time on punching the QTCs after the contest,
and I am sure this introduced many errors.
LU1DZ: Very nice contest, it is the best because it is
always testing the operator skill. Was a pleasure to work the very
good european CW operators!
LU1EWL: Best score since 1981.
LY2IJ: Thanks to LY1FZ for leting to use his QTH.
LY2OX: Just wanted to register in this contest for my
colleagues not to forget my call..But it was useful as I tried to
learn copying QTC's straight into keyboard. It was very hard at the
begining and I appologise some guys due to broken QTC's but later
on I got a charm in this and less problems second part of the
contest. Anyway I left for HB9 Sunday morning,so nothing to
do...
N3RD: Conditions were much improved this year as compared to
2000, which was a total disaster. Lightning storm passed right over
the QTH at 23Z on the second day, causing a 30 minute QRT. Great
Fun and Great Contest. Thanks, DARC!
N4AF: FB Contest - bad time of year. I would prefer that WAE
contest NOT allow packet access to single operators.
N5PO: Would be nice if stations did not call you and ask if
QTC while you are running a freq...Stations that are a dupe should
not call.. Lots of fun and many good operators...Not very good band
openings. Looking forward to next year.
N6AW: Had to QRT early due to QRM from XYL!
N6ZZ: Good conditions, especially on 15 meters. Some
thunderstorms in the area this weekend, QRN on the low bands.
N9RV: Much better conditions than last year. Wish I had my
80m antenna up and was in better shape to be a serious competitor.
I am very thankful for the EU participation in major contests and
am happy to participate in this one.
OH0/SM5AJV: This was a part time effort during our usual
expedition to OH0. The QTC traffic is really fun! 73 de Ingo,
SM5AJV
OH1F: Finally an excellent propagation on CW! Unfortunately
DX activity was quite low. More than doubled OH record.
OH6RC: Good contest but insufficient multiplier
stations.
OK1DRQ: 73 and thanks for fb contest and hpe agn first place
in OK land, hi
OK1FCA: AGN VY GD CONTEST, despite of HVY QRN on 80M and
poor CDX on 10M, I set my personal WAEDC record, see you next
year.
OK1HX: Condx very nice but QRN all the time on low bands. DX
Cluster not used.
OK1MGW: I worked in WAE more than 12 years, in 1999 I
finished sake of total failure in calling dx and taking QTC. I try
contest this year again and it was very good traffic !
OK1MNV: Thanks for a good contest and CUAGN next year.
OK2ABU: Good contest. Very dear post taxes in OK for
seniors, hi.
OK2SWD: Very good Contest and perfect DX operators. My age
63. I hope to meet you next year dear friends.
OK5SWL: Very good Contest and many stations. RZ3AZ had over
1200 QSO's. See you next year again friends.
OL4M: Es gibt nur zwei Phaenomene in der ganzen Welt ohne
welchen ich nicht leben koennte: WAEDC und meine Frau.
OM2VL: My first WAE Contest in SO Cathegory. I taking part
in this Contest some y ears ago as SWL OM3-27707. Thank you for the
nice contest!
ON4XG: Fine contest as usual.
ONL383: Condx much better this year. KC1XX was back to his
usual 599 on forty and not 449 like in 2000! See you in SSB and
RTTY later.
OZ4FF: Happy I also wrote QTC down in paper as the CT log
program wouldn't print them out.
PA5TT: Nice contest. Should have participated more
hours.
PA9RZ: 15 m on saturday: wauw! WAC in less than 12 hours
running 4 watts only! QTCs are too complicated; DXCC is what
counts.
PJ2M: One of my favorite contests. I usually don't work up a
sweat during a contest, but there was no air conditioning! Thanks
to everyone who moved for me...
PP7CW: Glad to participation again. It's a merry contest.
Till next year.
PY2NY: Best than never before, but using 400 watts almost
all time. Anyway, very fine to be there and hope to be better at
WAE SSB.
PY2YU: Great contest but big noise here. 95% of time on 80 m
I had S9+25 QRM and the rest S9+10! On 40m is the same!
PY4FQ: Thanks a lot for this excellent Contest!
RA0FU: This was my first WAE contest. Had a good fun.
RA3XO: Whiskey Alfa Echo run Is not only for Big Guns Any
Pistol can get pleasure Anyone can pleasure measure By receiving
QTCs. Let this Test be as it is. Contesters activity conforms to
sun activity. Nice sun.
RU1A: It's not important to use 3 el yagi on 80 mtrs,
because there was very low actuvity on band (22 stns USA, 3 stns
JA).
RU4WE: Good contest every year, tks DARC! CU 2002.
RW9SW: Comments: Strong QRN from storm static on 80m, excuse
my bad receiving. But short pile-up on 10m was a good surprise for
me and compensate one.
S50A: WAE contest needs some changes (looking through the
eyes of very active contesters) since activity is not big enough.
Watching packet spots you can find over 150 active multipliers over
the weekend but most of them are on other mode or WARC bands. When
new one appear on the screen the pile up become so bad that DX
station usually goes away or QRT. QTCs are fine. How about 24 hours
contest (Sat. 12 UTC to Sun 12 UTC)?! Good luck to new manager of
the contest.
S56A: My coldest WAE since 1962, decent condx, ZL6QH on 4
bands, ZW5B with YU1RL op, P43E 10 QTC, OC K1ZZ/VY2 as 10m VE mult
+ 10 QTC in 40m QRN, K3ZO on strange 10 m late opening...
SP2AYC - SP3GTS: For several years, first time I took
opportunity to participate full time in the WAE contest. It was
great pleasure for me. See you next year.
SP4Z: It was wonderfull to some hours of relax and training.
I like to get QTC very much. See you next year.
SP9NSV: My favourie contest but I didn't have enough time.
Perhaps next year ...
SP9W: Good contest but no many times.
SQ4NR: Because of my software brakedown 8 QSOs and few QTC
were deleted. I'm sorry! Tnx fer nice contest. It was my first WAE.
I'm 19 and have got my licence in November 1999. Tnx fer new ones
and a lot of fun.
T9/JR7HOD: Different country STNs could be heard, comparing
in JA.
T94KW: This is great contest but I work very slow with my
tiny straight key.
UA1-143-1: Difficult but interesting contest!
UA6LAM: I love WAE.
UT8IT: It is very difficult to work in competitions on low
power. It is necessary to work only on search. And everyone give
back QTC when poorly hear station, which aska QTC. Before meeting
in 2002.
UZ7U: I very much regret, that has accepted the decision to
use K1EA program in WAE Contest and wrote down QTC without a paper.
More than 40 % QTC were lost, after I have found out my mistake.
Nevertheless, the game is the game.
VK2APK: This was my 533rd contest. 10 meters was dead for a
long time and it seemed I would not make any contact on that band.
But finally opened at an unusual time. I am surprised that I made
so many QSOs on 40 meters, but 80 metres was very bad.
VK2QF: Great fun tnx for the Contest Co-Ordination!
W0YR/4: Thanks for a good contest. I had to shut down about
seven or eight times because of heavy lightning (blitzen) close by.
A very stormy weekend! Too much QRN on 80 and never heard a single
EU station on 10 m!
W1CSM: Excellent ops, no fills on QTC's. Any way to have
QTC's in both directions?
W1QHG: My first WAE DX Contest and it was fun. Many thanks
for the creative format!
W2UDT: Enjoyed the test. Wish I had more time!
W2YR: Bad thunder & lightning storm for entire weekend
hurt low band effort!
W4AU: This contest was a lot of fun, as usual. I enjoy the
unique aspect of having to send QTC messages; it adds a lot to the
contest.
W4BQF: Love this Contest! Log program problems, but after
that, really fun. Super Eu operators!
W4NTI: Sorry for messing up the QTC so badly. I'll do better
next time.
W6XR: Last time I participated was in 1975. This is a great
contest!
YL5W: Conditions for low power and so simple antenna,
especially on 28 Mc, was not so good but contest was nice!
YO4AAC: QRP 3 Watts!
YO8BPK: Is for the first time when I worked in this very
nice contest.
YO9HP: Good propagation, nice contest. See you in WAE-SSB
from Oman, as A45WD...
YU7SF: This was my 43rd WAEDC-CW and my 2.321 contest log
entry at all.
ZC4DW: Excellent contest, good conditions, except 10m poor.
80m very good.
ZL2AZ: Conditions to EU only fair on 10-40 m, nil heard on
80 m.
ZL6QH: Den WAE-Contest mal von der anderen Seite mitzufahren
war ein Erlebnis und hat Riesenspass gemacht. Herausragende Signale
aus DL waren DL2NBU, DL3TD und DJ7AA.
